About Peachkit and Crumbs
I’m Peachkit, a songwriter-turned-singer, piano-player-turned-producer, and rambler-turned-writer. Even from my opening sentence it’s clear I’ve ended up where I am via circuitous routes. It dawned on me that I am where I am today because I followed the path made of crumbs; weak links, whispers from muses, major plot twists and tiny inklings.
Oh CRUMBS is my way of sharing my creative process with you and my music in a way that I feel will create more connection with you one-to-one rather than screaming into the void on social media.
1. About Crumbs
Crumbs to me are the small and tiny little scatterings of ideas I have, downloads I pay attention to, art that moves me, songs that inspire me, people that I meet on an idle Thursday evening that change my life and led me down a path that wasn’t on a map.
This Substack is a place where I want to share the crumbs I’ve picked up along my way, to help someone else start their own path or go down a rabbit hole they weren’t expecting to and discover something wonderful. I want to connect paths, have them cross over and merge, sometimes walk alongside, sometimes dip back whilst others forge ahead.
2. What to Expect
My monthly posts will be sent out every Thursday. They will be a round up of what I’ve been up to in that month as a songwriter, composer, producer and general human navigating planet earth.
This is what you get for free, but if you want to become a paid subscriber or a founder at any point, I will be providing more in depth behind the scenes about my writing either in the form of a post, videos or voice notes which will be sent out twice a month. These will take a deeper dive, discussing my tips and techniques for lyrics and melody writing, and also show my process as a producer for songs I’ve produced for other artists or how I build a track for a writing sessions. I will also be doing interviews with artists I work with and asking them to share their breadcrumbs, and share videos from the making of the Peachkit music videos to date.
I want this Substack space to be a reminder that the Gingerbread Houses we seek rarely appear via an easy path. The real treasure is most often found after the long, unexpected, hard, challenging and, most often than not, circular routes, where the crumbs thin, and hope is nearly lost. It is in those moments, that even the smallest steps will make the biggest difference.
So join me, and let’s follow the crumbs and see where they take us.
